FAQs about Projectors

When choosing a projector for a home theatre, consider the resolution (1080p, 4K), brightness (measured in lumens, higher for brighter rooms), contrast ratio (for deep blacks and rich colours), throw ratio (distance needed to project a certain screen size), and connectivity options (HDMI, USB, wireless). Also, think about whether you need a short-throw projector for small spaces.

The ideal screen size depends on your room size and seating distance. A general guideline is a viewing distance of about 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal screen size. For projector placement, consider the throw ratio: a short-throw projector is suitable for small spaces, while a standard throw requires more distance. Ensure there are no obstacles between the projector and the screen and that the room can be sufficiently darkened for optimal viewing.

Yes, you can use a projector for everyday TV watching. Modern projectors offer high brightness and resolution, making them suitable for various content, including TV shows, sports, and gaming. However, remember that prolonged use can shorten the lifespan of the projector's lamp, and ambient light can affect viewing quality during the day.

Projector maintenance mainly involves keeping the lens clean and replacing the lamp as needed. Regularly dust the lens with a soft, dry cloth and check the air filters (if any) for dust accumulation, cleaning or replacing them as per the manufacturer's instructions. Lamp life varies by model and usage, but most need replacement after 2,000 to 5,000 hours of use.

LED and laser projectors offer advantages over traditional lamp-based projectors. They typically have a longer lifespan (up to 20,000 hours or more), lower power consumption, and more consistent brightness levels over time. LED projectors excel in colour accuracy, while laser projectors provide higher brightness and better contrast. However, they can be more expensive than lamp projectors, which may still be suitable for occasional use or for users on a budget.
