The Audio Technica VM670SP Dual Moving Magnet Mono Cartridge is specially designed for playing 78 RPM records, featuring a round stylus with a large curvature radius at the tip. With a curvature radius of 3 mil, this cartridge is perfectly suited for playing 78 RPM records from various eras, ensuring accurate and faithful playback.
Patented Dual Magnet Design
Utilising Audio Technica's internationally-patented Dual Magnet design, the VM670SP cartridge replicates the structure of the cutter head for outstanding performance. Unlike single-magnet designs, the dual magnets are arranged in a "V" shape, precisely matching the positions of the left and right channels in the stereo groove walls. This innovative design ensures excellent channel separation, extended frequency response, and superb tracking.
Para-Toroidal Generating System
The VM670SP cartridge features para-toroidal coils that improve generating efficiency and offer superb linearity. By reducing the leakage of magnetic flux in a continuous and unitised magnetic circuit, as well as optimising the permeability of the cores through the use of laminated cores, this system delivers exceptional audio quality with minimal distortion.
Mono Body for Enhanced Performance
Designed for monaural operation, the VM670SP cartridge features a mono body where the left and right channels are internally connected. This configuration reduces record noise, particularly in the vertical direction, and achieves a highly focused "centre" sound image compared to stereo bodies.
600 Series Specialisation
Part of the specialised 600 series, the VM670SP cartridge incorporates a mono body with internal wiring dedicated to monaural sound reproduction. This ensures optimal performance and fidelity when playing mono records.
Conical Bonded (3mil) Stylus
