Processing for up to 16 channels
With 16 output channels, the XMC-2 has the processing power for the most sophisticated home cinema systems. Add suitable power amps and you’ll be able to decode Dolby Atmos and DTS:X signals, right up to Dolby Atmos 9.1.6 – enough for the largest home cinemas. For best results, pair with the Emotiva XPA Gen3 power amps.

High quality sound
The XMC-2 is designed to deliver high-end quality sound – in stereo or multi-channel. The fully balanced Reference Stereo path combines with the Reference Stereo Mode to make this an impressive choice for stereo sound. Audiophile grade, AKM4490 Verita DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertors) operate in fully balanced mode on all 16-output channels, making this equally impressive in home cinema mode.

Balanced XLR outputs
For the highest quality signal transfer, the XMC-2 uses 16 XLR outputs. More usually found in studios, XLR balanced sockets offer excellent noise resistance and a ‘locked in’ connection for the lowest distortion and most secure connection.

Selectable operating mode
Five selectable modes give you the best balance between sound quality and control. Stereo Mode and Surround Mode use dedicated bass management and room correction settings for optimised sound. Direct Mode reduces the processing to a minimum but retains bass management. Reference Stereo Mode is the purest stereo mode with no bass management used.

Dirac Live, for the very best sound in your room
For the very best sound in your room, XMC-2 includes powerful room correcting technology from Dirac Research. This uses a microphone and dedicated software to take multiple readings around your room and feed the information back to the amplifier for a completely bespoke response (professional set-up recommended).

Enjoy fully-immersive sound, with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
Bringing the cinema home, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoders provide truly immersive sound through ceiling or up-firing speakers. The XMC-2 offers both systems, delivering Dolby Atmos up to 9.1.6 and DTS:X up to 7.1.4.

Wide-ranging connectivity
Featuring eight HDMI inputs and two outputs, the XMC-2 handles the most complex AV systems. The HDMI2.0b sockets are compatible with HDCP2.2, making it suitable for use with the latest TVs and 4K HDR and Dolby Vision sources. Seven digital and 3+1 analogue inputs are ample for a wide range of audio components – such as CD, streamer and pre-amp equipped turntable. There are also optical digital and analogue outputs – ideal for recording or looping sound through the processor.
